| 概要 | Whiskers are sensory organs innervated by diverse mechanoreceptors. Using in vivo intra-axonal recording with artificial whisking, we showed that rat club-like endings respond selectively to object contact. Multiscale imaging revealed their unique features, including a single-layer arrangement at the ringwulst, localization at the center of mass, and embedding within collagen structures beneath the glassy membrane. Comparative analysis in cats showed absence of these specializations. These findings suggest that rat-specific morphology supports high tactile selectivity during whisking. |
